«Flamenco and jazz are brothers,” says pianist Daniel García, one of the most exciting voices of the new generation of Spanish jazz. That is how he sums up what «Travesuras» is all about: Garcia has delved deeply into the music of his homeland and has combined influences from it with the vocabulary of the modern jazz piano trio. What emerges is music which is expressive, stands on its own terms, and in which rhythmic intensity is allied with melodic richness, harmonic finesse and exceptional virtuosity. Daniel Garcia makes his ACT debut with an extraordinary album alongside faithful fellow partners Reinier «el Negrón» and Michael Olivera. A musical experience that overtakes the frontiers of music itself to build bridges between cultures, times, and people.
Daniel García was born in Salamanca in 1983. As a student at Berklee College of Music in Boston he was taught by Grammy-winning Panamanian jazz pianist Danilo Pérez. Pérez became a mentor for García and had a decisive influence on his musical development.»Music is about truthfulness and self-knowledge, says García. “Only then can you penetrate deeper into things and find your own artistic expression, and Danilo showed me the way.» García’s success was not long in coming: in 2011 he received the award for the best jazz performance in Berklee. He subsequently played with renowned musicians such as Arturo Sandoval, Greg Osby and Perico Sambeat.

Foyl Aka – Neo Soul meets Jazz
Mysterious dreams, special characters, fascinating places –
there is no end for profound resources to inspire a remarkable and unique band name.
Well, in this uplifting case two best friends were eating some terrible burgers in a low-key fast food restaurant at 2 AM and found a phone application by accident which generates invented band names.
„Foyl aka” popped up, and bam, the baby was born.
Mathei Florea started his music career as a small child by singing in operas and in choir. Soon he found his desire in playing the classical piano which he has studied for 13 years before he decided to dedicate his passion to the direction of jazz and pop. After being the student of Kristjan Randalu he studied music in Sweden and ended up improving his skills even more in the Jazz Institute Berlin.
The songs of FOYL AKA are written by hungarian vocalist Maja Mágedli and estonian piano player Mathei Florea.
Maja Mágedli is a 1st prize and 5 special awards winner of the Lakatos Ablakos Dezső Jazz Competition of Hungary 2013 furthermore she is considered to be one of the youngest participants of the Lamantin Jazz Festival and Camp. After finishing the music high school with the guidance of Ágnes Kazai and Gábor Winand she moved to Berlin and got accepted to the renowned Jazz Insitute Berlin (Universität der Künste) where she has become a student of Prof. Judy Niemack.
All the musicians of this quintet met each other at the Jazz Institute Berlin and they have quickly discovered how smooth, natural and thrilling it feels to create a soft, but grooving sound together. These compositions are influenced by mostly neo soul in a jazz context: though the group does not intend to limit its genres and is excited to build an own little world without musical boundaries.
