ʙᴀʀʀʏ ʜᴀɴɴᴀʜ
It´s Asado day. Traditionally an occasion for all family, neighbors and friends to bunch together, and more. You are only a sweet Nene, and as such, never have you ever been part the (actual) Asado scene, until now. Still you can tell this is an exaggerated and extraordinary gathering. Smoke and bulla pack the place. In the middle, as always: the Parrillero, someone talented behind the Carbones, with skills to rip off, grill and chop up huge chunks of various Carnes – from Bistecks to Chorizos to Chinchurrias. Around him, for once: a crowd rather indiscreetly secreting about you. Ironically, no one told you that today´s gathering is also to commemorate a special occasion, of which you are the poster boy. Today, for the first time, you are eating Carne.
Although finely chopped, La Carne has a tough and fibrous quality. You may choke without chewing it well. This is something you are (and will be) able to stomach – just like everyone else around you. So there you are, eating Carne, all unaware of going through a transitional stage. It is this very group-meal/performance, the language of culture clearly hidden in the smoke, that makes you change suddenly from a sweet Nene to a big Persona. “La Carne, Rite de Passage”.
LaLoVe’s Kitchen and Aerea Negrot cook and perform together again in: La Carne. Meat turned into drama-and music turned into a total Rite de Passage. A combination of song-seasoned, meatless story-meals served atop the social, the individual, nature, and culture. LaLoVe’s Kitchen’s special style of transformations, relationships and multiple representations that more than feeding you, they change you.
