Perotá Chingó live at Funkhaus
Perotá Chingó continues to decipher the mysteries of the creative process by way of communal celebration: transmuting energies through the esoteric power of their songs; envisioning a diverse community and working with duality as a concept, the feminine and the masculine in every being and self- transformation, where fire embodies the spark of a new beginning.
A song and a sunset were the elements that bound together the lives of Julia Ortiz and Dolores Aguirre (Argentina) in the summer of 2011. A musical adventure sealed their destiny for two childhood friends who never dreamt that one day they would start a band and have millions of followers on You Tube.
Perotá Chingó is a project in constant transformation that today is embarking on a new musical and conceptual chapter. It’s been eight years since the summer of 2011 when the video of the song “Rie Chinito” became a viral phenomenon, (more than 21 million views to date), and now the band is extending the boundaries of its acoustic style by interweaving complicities between technology, folklore, pure song, the ancestral evocation of voices and the power of new electronic beats.
Since 2012, Perotá Chingó has toured most of Latin America and Europe and organized its concert tours independently. In the beginning their popularity spread by word of mouth and they filled theatres practically without the need for advertising. They were pioneers in self managing a musical project and in having a direct relationship with their fans via social media. The songs of Perotá Chingó have transcended frontiers and reached the ears of great artists like Lenine, Djavan, Chico César, Fernando Cabrera, Joss Stone, Anita Tijoux and Chambao with whom they have shared a variey of musical experiences.
“strength natural strength, let me find the breath,
to weather storms,
when greening is to be done”
