The Official Animal Rights March is an annual vegan march founded by Surge in London in 2016. The purpose of the march is to unite the vegan community globally and to inspire vegans to speak up for animals in their everyday lives and to encourage them to get active in their local communities.
In 2016 Surge brought together 2,500 vegans marching through central London and in 2018 we succeeded in a global attendance of 28,000 vegans marching in 25 cities across the world (Berlin: way more than 3000 participants), demanding an end to all animal oppression. Based on the growth and success of the march so far we believe that the event has the power and potential to be one of the most historically significant animal rights events as we progress towards a vegan future. We want you to be part of history.
One of our primary aims of TOARM is to inspire confidence in vegans who would otherwise stay silent in the face of oppression, to make them feel like they have a roar of voices behind them every time they make the choice to speak up for the animals in their day-to-day lives. Our aim is for TOARM to create a ripple effect of activism across the globe which carries us through another year of progress for the vegan movement.
We clearly distance ourselves not only from speciesism, but from all racism, sexism, antisemitism, homophobia and any other form of discrimination and are impartial.
We stand for openness, tolerance, peaceful coexistence and speak out explicitly for animal rights, the preservation of nature as well as the vegan way of life as expression and necessity of a civilized society.
